Osttirol – enjoy superb mountain biking in one of Austria’s most scenic mountain regions!

Für Genussradler und Höhenmeter-Fanatiker

For both leisure cyclists and the serious mountain biker …

Osttirol boasts 120 designated mountain biking and cycling trails with a total length of 1,000 kilometers. With nine mountain ranges to choose from, pedal pushers of all fitness and experience levels will find something to keep them entertained here!

Thanks to Osttirol’s southern location and Mediterranean climate, the mountain biking season starts as early as May and lasts through October. Many of the mountain bike tours feature altitude gains of over 2,000 meters and offer a lot of riding fun for bikers with strong legs and a preference for technical tracks. Making Lienz your base, you can ride into Debanttal, to Dolomitenhütte and on into the Lienzer Dolomites; to Hochsteinhütte; to Hochstadel; to Ederplan; via Thurn and along the foot of Schleinitz to Zettersfeld.

Many famous athletes, including the Austrian snowboarders Sigi Grabner (multiple world-cup winner) and world champion Benjamin Karl, and the triathlete Eva Dollinger have chosen Osttirol’s mountains as their training base.

Over the years Osttirol has developed into one of Austria’s prime destinations for mountain bikers
